About Hold Lab

Short answer: Hold Lab helps you add hooks, shelves and storage to a rental without drilling, so you can use your space and still get your security deposit back. It's written for US renters, plus anyone in a dorm or a place where the lease says no holes.

Hold Lab is published by Aivora Digital, and the guides are written by the Hold Lab editors. Each guide looks at one storage problem in a rental and names a product that fits it.

What each guide does

The aim is storage that holds without damaging your walls or costing you your deposit. Every guide starts with your space: your door's thickness, your wall surface or your cabinet width. Then it names one pick, gives the weight the maker says it holds, and tells you plainly when you should skip it. There are four so far: over-the-door hooks, Command wall hooks, a small adhesive shelf and an under-sink tension rod. If you're not sure where to start, our guide to hanging things without drilling sorts the options by weight and wall, and the Fit Finder asks three quick questions.

How picks are made

We don't test products. We read the maker's stated load and the surfaces it lists on the amazon.com listing, and we match that to one job. If a product needs screws or nails, it can't be the pick. Star ratings, review counts and commission rates don't decide anything. The method page has the full detail, and every change is logged on the updates page.
